Adding new registered users

mycvec
I've added two members of my work team to the Nabble site as part of a user group. How do I arrange for them to be able to log-in as themselves rather than using my email address and password?

Re: Adding new registered users

Not quite sure what you have done as you can't have multiple users with the same email address on a Nabble forum. This is the correct approach...

I assume this is a private forum with the "View" permission turned of for those in both the "Anyone" and "Registered" groups but added for the "Members" group, and all colleagues have been manually added by you to the "Members" group. That way no one can access the forum without being approved by you.

In that case you should simply add the email address of any new work colleague to the to the "Members" group. As you save this record Nabble will automatically assign the part of the address before the @ as a username (regardless of what you may attempt to add).

Then, ask the new colleague to register. The registration form asks them to enter their email address and pick a username and password. Once they click the link in the email they will be sent by Nabble they become registered - at the same time Nabble will link the address you entered in the "Manage Users & Groups" screen to their registration and so they gain access to the forum. Others who simply register without being in the members list will still be excluded from access to the forum.

With this approach, if anyone leaves you simply remove them from the Members group. Although they will remain registered they lose access to the forum and you retain the privacy of the group.
