Abuser in my forum is throwing threats that he could track our IP addresses.

Greetings.

An abuser in my forum is throwing direct threats at me saying and I quote "I know your IP address and I will track you down." i would like to know if this is at all possible through nabble, and if so, how can I safeguard myself and other forum participants against it.

If he gets your IP, yes. He could find out your city but not your exact address. It might help to use a program called Tor to access Nabble.

Or you could try scaring him.

1. Open notepad
2. Paste this code in:
Set wshShell = wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
do
wscript.sleep 100
wshshell.sendkeys "TROLLED"
loop
3. Save it but remove ".txt" instead add ".vbs"
4. Get him to download it and open it
5. Threaten him that you will not tell him how to fix it unless he leaves you and your friends alone
6. Success? (If he is stupid enough)

WARNING: Make sure he is stupid enough to fall for it. A simple reboot will fix it. If he actually is good at computers, he will know how to stop it.

I would like to know, if it is at all possible to detect an IP address without the use of emails, or needing for the 3rd party to download a file. Or simply put, can he just "hack" the forum and determine the IP address of those who post comments. I apologize if this sounds naive, but I am new to this and eager to learn.

I would also very much like to hear an official response from the nabble team so that I may dispel the anxiety and atmosphere of fear this abuser has cast on my forum.

I banned his original account then he created another account and threw direct threats at me.
