Well, I think I've implemented the changes correctly and things are working well on my forum - except that Google still cannot find things on the forum, although it does on the rest of the site. Below is a screen capture of a search that I just did for a sentence from this post on Sept 8th, 2017...
... for the starting points, I don't know how to do that, although I surely have a link to the Nabble server somewhere. But, that would seem to only fix the Freefind searches, and my goal is Google. So, what if I had a link to the Nabble server on my home page - would Google go search that?
Note that I used the Beta version of Search Console to get that info. The standard version of Search Console still is not showing anything whatsoever for indexing. I don't understand why there's a difference, but at least Beta is showing it. So, if you need anything please let me know.
... made the forum.garysgaragemahal/test-forum change on it. Further, I currently have it hidden from search engines so that will need to change. And, you'd have to put the Google tracking code on it. But, that shouldn't be an issue - right?
Also, there isn't much content, but there is a bit and we can certainly put more. But that might make it easier as we won't have a lot of "stuff" to wade through.
Will this work?
Good! I can't tell that mine's been crawled yet as nothing is showing up in the searches I've done. But I have confidence it will since the submit didn't come back as re-directed.
It has some content and I can easily put more on.
I've thought about using the "production" forum and really don't want to do so. There are things on it, like the picture and the prayer, that make it obvious it isn't the same. So I'd really rather use the test one. Just tell me what to do and I'll do it. And, I'll add more content to search for.
... successfully and the indexing should happen since it wasn't redirected. I'll monitor the indexing by doing my search for that specific string every few hours, but I'll bet that within 36 hours the indexing will have been done.
Thanks!!!
I understand there are issues with Nabble and Google.

Harvey & Nabble - Please don't take my statement the wrong way. I need to go to HTTPS as my site is being found less and less by Google searches, as shown in the Google search results below. Which surely stems from Google de-emphasizing us because we aren't "secure". And Google accounts for...
My forum is embedded on the first/home page of my site, but there are another 425+ pages of documentation beyond the forum. And a Google search will, now, find things in my forum as well as on the rest of the site.
Having said that, Google's indexing of the forum itself isn't rapid. But it does happen.
...) trucks. [There's no other such website so mine must be the best. ] So, as Greg said, the website is for a very narrow "market".
And, I've done a lot of reading about SEO, meaning Search Engine Optimization. That's certainly helped and I get about 64 visitors a day from just Google searches - and I...
I created the segment for your forum on the google search console, then I
override the html macro and inserted a piece of code given by google in it.
