I'm having a problem with not getting emails for "New Topics Only" instant email subscriptions. The messages aren't being generated. I've just confirmed it with testing on my site.
I know that we had a problem previously with "New Topic Only" digests subscriptions where the digests were not being issued (see this thread: http://support.nabble.com/Digest-Subscription-to-New-Topics-only-is-not-generating-td7587551.html) and I know you fixed something there. Is it possible the instant emails are experiencing the same problem and need the same fix? Coleen |
In anyone answering support during the holidays? I really need to get this issue fixed as my members subscribed to "New Topics Only" are not getting any messages.
Thanks, Coleen |
I'm trying to fix your issues, but there are many requests and your forum is unique. The problems on in don't happen in other places.

Which were your last changes in naml? Do you use the advanced editor? Have you ever made a backup of your code?

Are you sure the one who didn't receive the email is in Members group and can view the topic?

Yes, I'm subscribed to the Nabble Support forum for New Topics only and I'm not getting them from Nabble Support either. So it's not just my forum. Coleen Coleen Astalos, Stampin' Up! I just tested the two types of directly subscription. I received my emails instantly.
Are you still having problems?

Yes, I'm still having problems and I seem to have narrowed down the problem.
If I'm subscribed to the "New Topics Only" at the upper most level, then I'm not getting any of the emails. But if I subscribe to "New Topics Only" at the lower category level of the forum, then I do get them. I'm also not getting any of the New Topic posts from the Nabble Support Forum which I'm subscribed to at the upper most level as well. Coleen |
Pedro,
I wanted to make sure you had seen that the problem only seems to be with users subscribed at the top level for New Topics, Instant emails. If they're subscribed at the lower category level (New Topics, Instant emails) it seems to work fine. This is not just a problem in my forum, but also in the Nabble Support Forum as well (so I assume a problem overall in Nabble). This is the #1 support request item I have as it impacts my users. I'm trying to not post on the other support questions I have open, so I don't have you going 100 different directions at the same time. When we get this fixed, we can move on to the next highest priority item. Thanks, Coleen |
Which is subscription here? "New topics only" or "every message"?
In this forum, at the top level, I subscribed to receive "every message". At the lower level, free support, I'm subscribed to receive a daily digest. Everything is running well for me.

On the Nabble Support Forum I'm set up to receive New Topics only at the top level. I'm not getting ANY posts. Coleen Coleen Astalos, Stampin' Up! When you received your last email from the support? I mean, the "New topics" subscription.
My test forum.

Never. I subscribed at the main level, "New Topics Only" on Dec. 21st to test out if it was a problem only on my site or on Nabble only. I can see there have been many new posts in the Free support area since then and I have not received any of them.

I don't need to get the emails from the Free Support - I just did it for testing purposes. Please let me know when it's corrected (or if you need me to do any more testing for you). Any progress on this?

I could reproduce the error. It is a "default" set on Nabble. I'm trying to change it.

Please, try this:
<override_macro name="save_field_values"> <n.if.equal value1="save-subscription" value2="[n.action_parameter/]"> <then> <n.page_node.visitor_subscription.save to="[n.subscription_to_field.value/]" type="[n.subscription_type_field.value/]" /> <n.if.equal value1="[n.subscription_to_field.value/][n.subscription_type_field.value/]" value2="CHILDRENINSTANT"> <then><n.page_node.descendants/></then> </n.if.equal > <n.redirect_to.subscription_saved_url/> </then> </n.if.equal> </override_macro> <macro name='descendants' requires='node'> <n.this_node.descendant_apps_list.> <n.loop.> <n.current_node.visitor_subscription.save to="[n.subscription_to_field.value/]" type="[n.subscription_type_field.value/]" /> </n.loop.> </n.this_node.descendant_apps_list.> </macro>When the user save his subscription as "Receive new topics only" and "Individual emails", the system goes through all descendants apps and subscribe the user in each one.

If I wanted to do this regardless of the subscription type (All Topics, New Topics, Instant mail or Digest) would I just remove this IF check?
<n.if.equal value1="[n.subscription_to_field.value/][n.subscription_type_field.value/]" value2="CHILDRENINSTANT"> <then><n.page_node.descendants/></then> </n.if.equal > And just have: <n.page_node.descendants/> I think this would be helpful as my members don't always get that subscribing themselves at the top level gives them emails all the levels. When they don't see their subscription listed at the lower level they go subscribe there as well. So having this automatically subscribe them at the lower levels would be great. Thanks, Coleen |
