Hi NS - I did try and message you but it seemed to bounce back>

How did you go about making your forum https? Mine isn't but I'm not sure where to go about upgrading - and I'm not very forum literate so no complicated answers please!

I've read this
From now on Nabble users can switch from HTTP to HTTPS protocol.
1) Users should have their own domain to apply the changes.
2) Users should buy their own certificate so that we can install it on our servers.

But no idea where to start!

Re: Https Protocol Request

I don't have any sites which are https enabled so can't give detailed step by step instructions.

However, normally, the company through which you register your domain name will be the folk to whom to turn for help on this as each company will have slightly different interface through which to control things.

I would also expect your domain hosting company to be able help you obtain the necessary certificate. They come in several flavours, at varying costs. If you are not collecting payments through your site then the simplest form will be adequate to stop browsers reporting your site is unsafe. There are a number of organisations that offer that type of certificate at no cost. A search will find them.

Raven<Nabble>
Harvey, because your forum is embedded, I will have to look into how to get https to work with it.

The post has been updated. You don't need to provide a certificate, all you need is your own domain.

Oh thanks - I was wondering about a certificate but there were so many options when I googled wasn't sure where to start and which were safe to use!

If we now don't need a certificate can my forum be made HTTPS?
Its embedded in a blogger blog http://guptachat.blogspot.com/

The forum is guptachat

Do you need privileges?

My developer seems to think that if would be easy to make the outer page https if the forum itself was https.

Raven - My forum is embedded but I know how to tick the box for Security in Weebly.  So, can you enable HTTPS for my forum, please?  Bullnose Enthusiasts.
I'm not Nabble support, but have Nabble running on my Weebly website: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/

I hadn't seen an update in the pinned forum on embeds, so I'm a bit behind here.  To clarify for me, https is now an option for the forum page when you host your own domain, correct?

I am interested in the ability to embed our Nabble forums in sites that are secure (https).  Right now, we have several secure sites that try to embed the Nabble forum, but cannot.  Our Nabble site http://nabble.aealearningonline.org is currently not secure, but we could make it so if that is a necessary step here.  Please let me know the steps you find for this process.

Thank you-

I just switched over to https and when I clicked on my forum link, Nabble does not load. Just a domain name appears there with a link leading  back to old http. How do I proceed to remedy this situation.

This is the same issue I have. If your forum is embedded and the outer page is https and the forum isn't, it won't load.

You can do something complex to have your entire site https except the outer page.

Any updates on this?

Re: Https Protocol Request

It seems from this post:
http://support.nabble.com/HTTPS-Protocol-td7600829.html
which you'll note was updated after the two replies currently there, that while Nabble have a technical solution, this post:
http://support.nabble.com/Https-Protocol-Request-tp7600969p7601035.html
suggests it is time consuming to implement.

As it is, what you both describe is what you expect when you implement httpS at your site without Nabble having matched it.
