I think this is the same as replying to the root post of the thread. If you don't agree, please explain why do you think this is important and we may add it if it makes sense.

Re: reply to all

HI Hugo...thanks 4 ur speedy reply.  I would like to use a reply to all to encourage a stronger social community

for example...I use my forum as a way to communicate with many of my mailing list members, so sometimes, like when  new member joins, I like to send a mass greeting to introduce the new member to the entire group.

it would be great if all those who follow by email can receive my mass post so they can meet the new member.

I have also had members request this feature.

ALso, and this may be a silly question, but what is the difference between a registered user and a member?

thanx!

You can post a new topic in the forum and all subscribers will receive it by email. Later you can either remove the topic or move it to a different place (e.g., sub-forum).

A registered user is a person that finished Nabble's registration process. So Nabble knows the email of this person. The definition of a member depends on the configuration of the "Who can view & post" page.

Alot of the users on my forum beleive that a reply box at the foot of the page would be useful, as do I.

They have stated reasons like:

just make it far easier to post in a thread, and you don't have to reply directly (even gives them a email as well) to a another user

It is quicker

What if you are new to a thread and are not replying to anyone?

Can you please try and implement this as soon as you can, theyre becoming impatient, and we are thinking of changing the type of forum provider.

Re: reply to all

The problem is that the user must choose one post to reply to. What you suggested makes sense for a blog or gallery post, and we indeed have this implemented. See one example:

I understand this makes replying faster, but since there is no general rule for which post should be replied to, we can't work on this. Do you know any forum software that has this feature?

Yes, the Sports Interactive Forum is a very successful forum which implements this.

Actually, the top 10 most used forums in the world all use this kind of technique.

Please post a link to a page (e.g., thread) that implements this feature and we will take a look.
