[promoting Nabble] RFE: allow the owner to obscure avatars by default

Graham Perrin
Request for enhancement

Add an option for the owner of a forum. Radio buttons:

[•] Show avatars
[ ] Obscure avatars (if any user, registered or anonymous, prefers to see avatars: they simply click the avatar icon in the topic header)

Rationale

When the majority of posters to an underlying list are not registered with Nabble: the presence of a lone avatar, or the complete absence of avatars (mass of grey head and shoulders) does little or nothing to enhance the appearance of a forum:

First impression to anonymous viewers should be as clean and simple as possible, allowing focus on content and features.

First impressions should be as pleasing as possible; that initial pleasure may help to encourage registration.

In parallel

I read this RFE alongside [promoting Nabble] visited links do not change colour.

I suspect that this will be my last RFE relating to anonymous users.

TIA
Graham

Appearance/arrangement of option

I guess, not too far from existing options relating to avatars:
