pinning + starring means what..

please explain what it means to pin or to star a post.

do you want these questions to remain for others as FAQ, or should we each take responsibility + delete once answered?

Pin = The topic will be displayed above all others on the forum front page. If you have more than one pinned topic, you can sort them by clicking on "Options > Structure > Manage pinned topics".

Star = Add to your favorites. You can see your starred items by clicking on your user name (upper right corner of the screen).
