I'm afraid the only one is either to wait for Nabble to fix the issue or until Nabble applications becomes less popular. :-(
Volunteer Helper - but recommending that users move off the platform!

The n2 server is under high load and we are working hard to fix the issue. If you want a quick solution, you can move your app to another server and get very fast responses. For example, we just moved the OSGeo.org archives to a new server and this reduced part of the load on the n2 server (that archive has more than 500,000 posts so you can imagine the load it produces). But there are a few things you should know about moving apps:
(1) Old links to your app will not work anymore because IDs will change. If you have a custom domain name, links to your app homepage will continue to work, but links to individual posts will not (because of the ID change mentioned before).
(2) If your app is embedded in a website, you would have to change the embedding code.
(3) Permissions are not moved by the system. So you would have to rebuild permissions on the new location.
(4) Subscriptions are not moved by the system. We should fix this problem soon, but for now you would have to invite users to subscribe to your app again.
(5) We can give your app 100,000 ad-free credits (worth $25) as a way to thank you for moving it to another server and accepting the limitations above.

If you don't want to move, remember that we are working on the issue and the server should be less loaded in the next days.

Hugo,

Thanks for the great response!

How does one go about moving to a different server?  Remember, you're talking to a non tech person here!  Pretend you're talking to a 4 year old who is mildly computer savvy.

I had to read your post about 6 times to comprehend it and I know you were making it easy to read.  Computers aren't my thing.

Thank you!

Hi Hugo -

I understand - Hardware and not software problem --- not so easy to fix...
Hope ya git it fixed - as I have Sent out and Invation fer new visitors..... Bad timing...

I will stay wif old Server - too much like starting over with different Server...
But a thought - If I did decide to go to a different Server - any chance of gettin a Decidated Server?
And how much a month would that be?

Your $25 credit offer very generious....

Hang in there - I will

Thanks - Claude

We don't have a dedicated server solution, but you are not the only one looking for it. I believe a dedicated server + admin services would cost around $200-300/month, but we don't have it (yet). Is this the price you would be willing to pay?

You should let me know.

Let me explain those points again for your specific case:
(1) Links will change. For example, this link to your exercise topic will not work anymore after we move your forum to another server. That topic will be accessible with a different link. In other words, if you have links in other websites pointing to your topics, those links will not work anymore (people clicking on them would see a "Page Not Found" message). That's the first disadvantage.
(2) Your forum is embedded in http://www.addisonssupport.com/, so you would have to edit that web page to fix the embedding snippet from Nabble.
(3) Permissions are not moved. I see that your forum is private, so you would have to make this change in the other location because all permissions will be reset to public.
(4) Users who have subscribed to your forum in order to receive posts by email will lose their subscriptions. So we would have to find a way to subscribe them again so that they can continue receiving posts by email.
(5) We would give users 100,000 ad-free credits, which is the same as 100,000 page views without advertisements.

In any case, I think you (and other forum owners) should wait a few days because we are moving a lot of stuff out of the n2 server. So the server should become more responsive soon. You can let me know what you think.

Yes, we are improving the speed of our servers so that they can return pages faster and serve more users.
