Any recommendations on getting a domain name here, or purchasing it somewhere else and combining them?
A Nabble forum address always take the form:
http://name.number.server.nabble.com
The only bit you have control over is "name". You can change that at any time, so you could always make it match the domain name that you register. Although it might make more sense to change it to "Home" as it forms the left-most option in the breadcrumb menu that builds across the top of a forum the more and more sub-forums that you create.
Nabble do not offer a domain name service themselves. You will need to go elsewhere. There's a million Domain Registrars to choose from and I have no special favourites to recommend. Once that is registered you can follow the links in your forum at:
Options > Application > Change domain name
to change the forum address to your domain name, which hopefully is something more memorable and pronounceable than a standard Nabble address.
2nd, the "not secure" thing. Any app or way to get that off, as I might try in the future to add a store with checkout page.
"Not secure" messages indicate that the page is delivered by "http". To stop that you need to implement "https" which ensures that all transmission between your browser and Nabble's server is encrypted. To achieve that Nabble has to switch things so that the forum is linked to your domain not theirs.
That's why you will need to register a domain name and not rely on Nabble's weird forum address - both for marketing and security reasons.
Once you have a domain name registered and it applied to your forum you can ask Nabble to switch on https at their end. Post a message requesting it at:
http://support.nabble.com/Https-Protocol-Request-tp7600969.htmlIt helps if you give both the nabble.com version and your domain's form of address for your forum.
Volunteer Helper - but recommending that users move off the platform!
