Problems seeing embedded Youtube videos

I recently discovered Nabble, and I have used it to embed a discussion forum on my blogger blog. Since i would normally prefer to seek out solutions on my own rather than trouble the busy support staff at Nabble, I kept from registering hoping that I would find some kind of solution for the problems I am having. All solutions have simply failed--unless there is something I've managed to miss.

I am trying to embed a youtube video into a post on the forum. I have followed every instruction i could see with no apparent success. I have enclosed the embed code within nabble tags and nothing works afterwards. All i see is a blank space where the video is supposed to be. Can anyone help with this issue? This is supposed to have been addressed a while ago. so I do not know why it has uniquely refused to work for me.

Some browsers (my Android Tablet for example) do not reveal the code segment that you need to place in the embed tags. Here's what you need to copy (as seen in Firefox)...



You need to click on "Share" then "Embed" to reveal the code to be copied. Then, when pasted between the < embed> tags, the result is this:

Thanks for your reply Greg. I have done this in the past and still the issue problem persists. The nabble embed tags re specifically what i use. I put the iframe code in between those nabble embed tags and it does nothing. The only way I've found to do this is by checking off that button on the reply page saying  that the post is in HTML format and posting everything in the reply box in html format.

It works here but does not work on my forum...at least we have narrowed it down to my own forum. I wonder what might be wrong.

Please post the URL so others here can see if they can spot anything abnormal. For example it's possible the problem only affects forums on one server.

Having tried a test post I have found it failed. I checked the permalink of the page I was posting it to and found:

http://gfp-forum.gfpanorama.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?new_topic

That suggests that the problem is that you have changed the domain name setting for your forum and the required script to process the contents of the embed cannot be found.

I'm not an expert on CNAME records and such related stuff, so I await one of the Nabble staff to advise.

As a work around I'd suggest that you re-set the domain name back to the Nabble default and use the "Redirect to" facility on the Embedding Options page. That ensures that people cannot break out of the embedding you put in place and video posts will definitely work as the script is handled by Nabble servers.

If that doesn't work for you I'd suggest you create a new topic on Domain name changes, as I sometimes find that long topics get overlooked by the Nabble team on the assumption that a solution to the problem will be reached.

Things appear strange this morning.

I have tried to repost your successful video but it's coming out blank on preview. Does the same on embedded forums on n4 and n6 servers too.

Haven't posted that bug report yet as I wanted to confirm it was something affecting everyone on the n4 server.

However, I have now set up a hidden sub-forum on one of my n4 forums which is embedded in a site of mine and been able to run a test. It's working fine, even showing when in Preview, before posting.

This now means I cannot replicate the issue that occurs on your forum - and I've no longer any ideas about what might be causing it as there's no longer any oddities in the URL of your forum.

You may have seen there are some problems on the n5 server at the moment, so I may wait a little longer in the hope that Hugo will have some time to look at the issue once he's sorted a far more general problem.

Post, if there's any change in situation.
