How to restrict number of forum posts visible

Many thanks for fixing my 'administrator access' problem. Now that my forum is filling up with new posts, under several sub-forums, etc, it is already scrolling a long way down the page. How can I arrange it so that only a fixed number of posts - eg. the five latest - are visible under each sub-forum and viewers can click a button that says 'Click to see older posts'?

In the "Options > Editor > Change appearance" screen you can define how many topics each sub-forum shows on the front page. The default value is six. Have you tried those settings?

Duh, I never did try that! Thanks, again. Is it possible to have all this good stuff (obvious to you but utterly opaque to new users) available in just one at-a-glance pdf manual? Otherwise, as my blogs and forums proliferate, I shall be here testing your patience every day... (sigh).

But what happens if, one day, Nabble decides it can't make any money by providing these wondrous free applications to an ungrateful world - and it pulls the plug on us? As an old man sinking his pension money into building a little web-based business entirely around Nabble (I love it already), I'm too old to be cruelly orphaned...

Don't worry, John. First, you can download all your messages and forum information by clicking on "Options > Download archives". I'm not saying this would be easy to import on another application, but at least you have everything needed to rebuild your work elsewhere. Second, we have great plans for the future and we have enough money to keep it going for a long time. In the worst case, we would give users enough time to export things out of Nabble before we pull the plug.
