How to prevent people from posting to parent forum

Peter Niederwieser
Forums like Groovy or Gradle have multiple subforums (e.g. gradle-user, gradle-dev), each of which is linked to a mailing list. However, users often post to the parent forum, without realizing that these posts won't go to the mailing list. This is a very common mistake. Is there a way to prevent people from posting to the parent forum?

Cheers,
Peter

Yes!

At the parent forum level go to OPTIONS > USERS > CHANGE PERMISSIONS and remove the ability of users to create and reply to posts.

Then go to each sub-forum in turn and change the "Inherit" setting to "Custom" and reinstate those permissions for those sub-forums.
