I was banning 3-6 spammers a day from this forum over the last few months but nothing in the last 24 hours.

Also no spammers on any of my own forums, so RECAPTCHA seems to have fixed things for the moment.

My two-step process has killed spam on my forum.  But this support forum has been bonkers with spam, although it looked like the change had fixed it.  But then JohnBusse snuck through this morning:

Well there's good news flashes. Pleasing your woman and being great in bed is a learned skill just like anything if you don't. If you in order to be be able to give your girlfriend orgasms over and over, have to follow a specific guide that's which could work electricity bills. Making excuses about your size or that you're just not there yet won't work. Take it from most men who had been there prior to this. If you act to learn what need to have to advice about women, being great in the sack becomes second nature.

Hi Gary,

I've deleted the JohnBusse post and banned the user!

EDIT: Forgot to check when he registered before I banned him! Some spammers wait 24 hours or more before posting, so the post may not have represented a break of the new reCAPTCHA.

That is what I'm thinking - that he got in before the change happened and then posted after the change.  Hope so.

Bummer!  Guess I'll keep my two-step process for a while longer.  So far I've had about 4 people join but not follow through with reading the guidelines and emailing back to me, at which point I knight them as members.  I'm not sure what to make of that, but I've had absolutely no spam.  Meanwhile another 10 or so members have gone through the process and are contributing.

I'll let haozwang delete the spammers MaryBush321 and titanblast54 in case keeping them helps investigation how this can happen.

Banned another five users (deleting nine posts) from Nabble Support this morning.

However, I have had no new unwanted registrations/posts on any of my own forums since my last post in this topic.

Re: How is the spam issue now? feedback needed!

Perhaps I need to take the two-step process out and allow registered users to post.  However, I've had a few register and not respond to my email about reading the guidelines, etc.  So, perhaps they were spammers?

But, my worry is why this support forum is still getting hit, and why that wouldn't translate to mine?

Re: How is the spam issue now? feedback needed!

Just banned a further three users.

I left yesterdays collection for someone else to ban as they were a new strain of post, that I thought Nabble staff ought to see as they included elements of the subject lines from existing topics in their subject lines and, in some cases, showed clear criminal connections by advertising personal details including credit card numbers for sale.

And another three that have appeared in the last four hours.

I won't report any further bannings unless the pattern of spamming changes in some way.

Hi, do you have instructions for how I can enable recaptcha or two-factor auth?

My forum has gone quiet for a month, and I just looked in now and it is FULL of spam.

Any advice appreciated, for the last year on my forum I have spent a lot more time banning and deleting posts from users than I have responding to real users.
