HELP Having an issue with Replying and Flagged Messages

This post was updated on .
Will / Hugo, I'm from The Guiding Light Message board and I just started having issues with replies and flagged messages today.  When I click on the link in my email notifications to reply to a post it takes me to the very first post in that thread instead of the post I want to reply to and when I do reply and hit post message it also takes me to the very first post instead of my reply....also when I go to my Flagged Messages and click to go to the flagged message where I left off reading it does the same thing..takes me to the very first post of that thread.  How do I get it back to the way it is supposed to work?  Thanks for your help.

At <http://n2.nabble.com/user/UserSpecialNodes.jtp?cmd=flagged>, focus on the Last Post column; a link beneath that heading will take you to the most recent (last) post.

Postscript: links within the Last Post column appear to be bugged at the moment.

Ok..I was just going to tell you that it wouldn't work for me.  When I click on Last Post in my Flagged Messages it kept taking me back to My Flagged Messages list.  When I click on Last Post on the main page of our Message Board it takes me to the very first post in that thread.  It always worked fine for me up until yesterday.

Forum: reference to Last Post presenting the first (not last) post

Last Post column currently working as expected for me at both <http://n2.nabble.com/Chandler-users-f1653123.html> and <http://n2.nabble.com/OpenOffice.org-projects%3A-selected-lists-f1803106.html>. Here using Safari 4 Public Beta (5528.16) on Mac OS X 10.5.6.

Please, what's the URL of the forum in which you see the problem?

Regards
Graham

This is the URL of our message board  http://n2.nabble.com/The-Guiding-Light-Message-Board-f529340.html

Also, when I clicked on the link at the bottom of the email notification that I got for this message it took me to the very first post instead of your post.

On Mac OS X 10.5.6, preferring list view, taking as an example from your forum <http://n2.nabble.com/forum/Permalink.jtp?root=2570782&post=2581036&page=y>:

[√] Firefox 3.0.8 expands the most recent post

[x] Safari 4 Public Beta (5528.16) expands the opening post, without attention to its successors.

This reminds me vaguely of a bug elsewhere.

@ buslady, please:

* what's your operating system and version?
* your browser and version?

Try, for example, the Last Post link for WORD GAME PART 3 by Zaudy. For this topic, you should find that your browser presents the required post.

@ Nabble

I'm reminded of Nabble permalink offered in WebKit is not wholly reliable, and differs from resulting URL in Firefox

An example from buslady's forum,
<http://n2.nabble.com/forum/Permalink.jtp?root=2570782&post=2581036&page=y> offered from within the Last Post column appears to redirect first to
<http://n2.nabble.com/WE-were-cancelled-I-27m-heartbroken-tt2570782.html#a2581036> then to
<http://n2.nabble.com/WE-were-cancelled-I%27m-heartbroken-tc2570782.html> in Safari; at some point, reference to the post is lost.

Remarkable in the URL is the apostrophe; in the address bar of Firefox, it presents it as an apostrophe, but if copied to pasteboard it presents as %27

Bug in WebKit, bug in Nabble, or some combination of the two?

Regards
Graham

For the example above, bug appears to bite both Safari 4 Public Beta (5528.16) and Internet Explorer 7; probably not specific to WebKit.

With <http://n2.nabble.com/The-Guiding-Light-Message-Board-f529340.html> as a starting point, the bug may bite topics with any of the following characters in their subject line:

: (colon) (example)
' (apostrophe) (example)
! (exclamation mark) (example)
( or ) (opening or closing parentheses) (example)
$ (dollar) (example)

Maybe not bugged:

? (example)
; (example)
/ (example)

(I'm testing first in Safari. Results of tests in IE to follow.)

Failures and passes in IE 7 echo the failures and passes in Safari.

To the list of characters that may be associated with the bug, I add:

" (speech mark) (example)

Comparison: Mixed View format

In fora such as <http://n2.nabble.com/Chandler-Project%3A-selected-lists-f1653096.html> and <http://n2.nabble.com/OpenOffice.org-projects%3A-selected-lists-f1803106.html> where format is Mixed View, references from the Last Post column seem to be fine.

When focused on a single forum (choose any of the four from those two mixed views) the bug may bite.

I tried the last post in the thread you suggested and it worked fine..took me right to the last post.  Hope that information helps.  I'm still having issues with most of the other threads including this one.

I upgraded my IE7 to IE8 in the hopes that it would take care of the issues I have been having as stated above..but no luck, I am still having those same issues with IE8.  However, I did download Firefox and tried that and it works.  I do prefer to use IE though so I hope someone can figure out what the problem is and fix it?????

<http://www.diigo.com/05h1p> for a couple of highlights from <http://n2.nabble.com/Forum-settings-have-changed-since-Wednesday-tp2436764p2597228.html>; Nabble are evidently busy at the moment.

FWIW my gut feeling (assuming a "fix in next release" response) is that resolution of this particular issue may a few days away, but let's be ready for Nabble to surprise us :)
