Embedding with Safari has issues

Stefan Eilemann
Embedding a forum with Safari does not work correctly. The forum is truncated and can't be scrolled. See attached screenshot. Other browsers (Firefox, Opera) work correctly.

Re: Embedding with Safari has issues

Hi Stefan,

Which version and OS?
I just tested it with Safari 3.1.2 for Windows and it worked fine.
If your version is older, please update it and let us know if the problem persists.

embedded Nabble 2 sometimes missing vertical scroll bar in WebKit/Safari

Here, I use Safari 3.1.2 (5525.20.1) on Mac OS X 10.5.4 and whilst I can't reproduce the symptom today, very recently I did see exactly the same behaviour whilst browsing http://plone.org/support/forums and thereabouts.

Whilst preparing to submit a bug report, at that time, I either

a) refreshed the affected tabs

(AFAIR there were three or four in a row, all affected tabs originating from a command-click on a referring link)

or

b) quit then re-launched Safari.

The symptom did not recur then, and has not recurred since, so I have not submitted a bug report.

An intermittent, rare issue with WebKit, maybe?

Stefan, do you have any significant third party software that may affect behaviour of WebKit/Safari and/or windows in general? (Here I have Afloat, Saft, PithHelmet, Application Enhancer etc..)

Regards
Graham

The main issue with Safari is that it disallows the "third party cookie" by default, which affects our old embedding script. We fixed this a few weeks ago, so the embedding problem you saw before should occur anymore. If it does, please let us know.

Re: embedded Nabble 2 sometimes missing vertical scroll bar in WebKit/Safari

Now using Safari 4 Public Beta (5528.16) on Mac OS X 10.5.6, I only sometimes see the invitation to view more at the foot of the window. Other times, the scroll bar is missing.

Example

1. http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/localization-and-help-pages-translation-4686#5

2. command-click one of the two links to Nabble

3. command-click the other link to Nabble

In one of the two Safari tabs, there is no scroll bar:

(There's another bug, which I'll detail separately.)

Cross reference
