Embedding Chatango on Nabble Forum Permalink

bubbaski27
I would like to embed my Chatango ticker on to my Nabble Forum.  I am able to do this on my website but if a user goes directly to my permalink I want the Chatango ticker to show up there as well.  Would I be able to do this via macros somehow?

This post was updated on .
I know nothing of Chatango tickers but will all depends on where you want to insert it and how you have set up your Nabble forum.

You seem to imply that your forum is embedded but refer to going direct to your Nabble permalink. If you have set the "Redirect to" option when you embedded your forum then a visitor cannot escape your Web site and forum will always display within it even if arriving via a Nabble permalink.

EDIT: The following in the original message is false

It is also possible to insert embedding code for a external ticker in the description area of a forum or sub forum so you don'the necessarily need to edit macros to achieve what you want.

Thanks as always Greg.  I will try putting it in the description .  Could you tell me what I need to do for that?

@Greg Would you also please elaborate on the redirect option?

My site is located at bubbaspicks.weebly.com if that helps.

Login with your Administrator address. You should then have a menu sequence available:

Options > Application > Edit name & description

You should be able to paste the code in the Description box, so that it appears under the name of your forum.

Unfortunately, I can't predict whether it will be in a suitable format/orientation for your forum as  can't access your forum and know nothing about the ticker you are using.

When I go to:
http://bubbaspicks.weebly.com/daily-picks-forum.html
I see your forum embedded in your main site, but it is easy to escape from your site.

For example by right-clicking on the "Bubba's Picks" link at the top left of your forum and choosing "open link in new tab" or, as you suggest, should someone arrive at the forum via a search engine result they will find the forum is displayed as an independent site.

To stop this from happening go to:
Options > Embedding options
and select the "Redirect them to: http://bubbaspicks.weebly.com/daily-picks-forum.html option.

Thereafter anyone clicking on any forum URL will find that the will be sent to the forum page on your web site, with the correct forum page displayed.

@Greg Thanks for walking me thru the embed /redirect options.  I did change it but encountered some backlash as it turns out mobile users can only see my Nabble forum by using the permalink as the embedded version is cut in half on mobile.

I was unable to get the Chatango script embedded into the description portion of the site.  I tried just pasting it as normal:

<script id="cid0020000154813243724" data-cfasync="false" async src="//st.chatango.com/js/gz/emb.js" style="width: 200px;height: 300px;">{"handle":"bubbaspicks","arch":"js","styles":{"a":"3366ff","b":100,"c":"000000","d":"000000","k":"3366ff","l":"3366ff","m":"3366ff","p":"10","q":"3366ff","r":100,"pos":"br","cv":1,"cvbg":"3366ff","cvw":200,"cvh":30,"ticker":1,"fwtickm":1}}</script>

With Nabble Embed:

<nabble_embed><script id="cid0020000154813243724" data-cfasync="false" async src="//st.chatango.com/js/gz/emb.js" style="width: 200px;height: 300px;">{"handle":"bubbaspicks","arch":"js","styles":{"a":"3366ff","b":100,"c":"000000","d":"000000","k":"3366ff","l":"3366ff","m":"3366ff","p":"10","q":"3366ff","r":100,"pos":"br","cv":1,"cvbg":"3366ff","cvw":200,"cvh":30,"ticker":1,"fwtickm":1}}</script></nabble_embed>

With div and a few others I found on the web but no success.

Any last ditch suggestions?

Thanks for volunteering your time to help others it is much obliged.

Oops! Apologies.

I suggested putting the JavaScript code in the Description area without checking. You're right it doesn't work!

I shouldn't try advising people about stuff I don't fully understand - and I don't understand JavaScript.

I know that others do insert Google Adsense code in their forums. I might be worth searching for topics on that, to see whether there are clues there you could adapt for your purpose.

I am slightly surprised to read that the forum gets cut in half on a mobile. The Login screen, which is all I see, on my elderly and small Galaxy S3 Mini, doesn't seem to suffer from this. (In portrait orientation, the email field is a little truncated, but usable. In landscape. it is fine although there is very little room around the entry fields.)
