Differences between Nabble1 and Nabble2

Nabble1 is the old system from Nabble, which runs in http://old.nabble.com.
Nabble2 is the new system, which has a distributed architecture with several servers (like www, n2, n3 and n4).

New Nabble2 features are described in this page:

Nabble2 is faster and has less clutter. The main features are:
 - Better embedding;
 - built-in email subscriptions (you can post and reply by email);
 - Custom domain names (e.g., www.myforum.com)
 - Several interface options (forum, blog, news, gallery, etc.);
 - Privilege control on who can view and post messages (i.e., private forums)
 - Shared user accounts, as explained here.
 - Online/Offline indicator (per forum);
 - Stars to add/remove your favorite forums and posts;
 - Pin/Unpin topics (aka sticky topics);
 - Better user experience;
 - Spam control.

New features for Nabble2 are under development, such as:
 - Templates: will let you build the UI as you want and even create your own node-oriented system;
 - Custom sub-domains: you will be able to create a forum URL like myforum.nabble.com;
 - Social Networking;
 - Content management;
 - Modules.

You will probably have to wait a few months until you see these upcoming features in the new system.

If you plan to migrate your forum from Nabble1 to Nabble2, you must know that:
 - Ratings have been removed since they are commonly misused and affects user ego;
 - If you don't have an account in the new system, you will have to register again (accounts from the new system won't work on Nabble2)

Two things I really miss from Nabble1:

 * The quickjump to my favorite forums.
 * The Breadcrumb navigation so that I can quickly get back to the main Nabble page.

In Nabble2, if I am inside a forum, I don't see any way to either jump to another one of my favorite forums, or navigate back to the main page.  Once I am at the main page, I can select `My Starred Items` and get to forums that I have starred, but if I am inside a forum, I don't see a way to jump to directly to one of my starred forums.

What is the difference in rights (or status) between:
1) People: Members on the main menu of a forum;
2) Options: Users: Who are Members?;
3) Options: Users: Current Subscribers.
How should I set and what to tell members of private mailing list about their status?

Perhaps both the Members should mean and display the same thing. Dainius Kaupaitis found the snag: while adding &filter=members to the URL of People (Members) — all the members are shown there, too. Screenshots and explanation here:

I am still not sure, the meaning of terms are not clear for me.

1) Subscriber — by email, not necessary registered on the Web?

2) Registered user — on that Web forum, not necessary by email?

3) Member of the forum — both email and WWW? One or few of members are also full-rights administrators. And registered users (2) sometimes may also appear online (logged in the webforum).

Did Nabble2 break followups going back to the source?  Several Apache projects are reporting
that messages posted on Nabble are not being sent to the original mailing lists.  This is a serious
issue since it causes projects to appear non-responsive without any redress.

I'm experiencing the same issue.  A user on stackoverflow.com was reporting that they were getting ignored on our lists and that the project had bad support.  I dug in and it seems several nabble posted emails were never delivered and I certainly haven't seen moderation requests for any of them -- and I do occasionally see and approve nabble posts that hit moderation.

This month alone all of the following have no trace in our archives:

If I had to guess, I'd say this started in May.  A very large percent of our list traffic comes from Nabble.  In May our list traffic, which was steadily inclining over years, dropped to half and has stayed there [1].  It hasn't been this low since 2007.  Meanwhile our google analytics are still showing increased traffic.

Hoping to get some Message-IDs from them.
