Deleting spam and obscene posts

cadet1620
It looks like there is no way to delete a post without notifying the author.

There very much needs to be a way to delete spam and obscene messages without giving the poster any feedback. Spammers use responses to their posts to validate that their probe was successful. Completely random obscene posts are likely to be probes as well. Reporting a terrorist attack just encourages more of them.

As an alternative, is it possible to create a subcategory that is only visible to admins? I could move the bad postings there and let them rot.

If you click on the username link (which links to his profile) you can delete his messages and even ban the user.

The ban page says that they still get notified that their mail has been deleted.  Since this forum allows anonymous posting, they can easily come back as a different user.

I've just become an auxiliary admin to this board so I didn't set the anonymous posting policy, and I don't know if we can change it.

I think this is more a feature request at this point.  It seems that there are legitimate cases to delete posts without notification.

For my other idea, moving the post to a hidden admin only folder, I've learned how to limit access to subfolders to admins only but don't see any way to hide them from users.  The best I can see is to make an 'Admin' folder with limited access and put the 'trash' folder under it.

Is there an admin manual for the nabble system somewhere?

Cadet, no, theres no nabble manual, A major pain in the # for me too!
You can solve your problem however, if you DONT WANT ANON POSTING, set your settings to allow Authorised/Admin, Members/Authors only to post.
There is no way to prevent anyone signing up and spamming.
YOU CAN create a subcategory Only visible to yourself, to move spam to.
Once templets are ready and nabble announces them, I will be able to create a 'vetting' script,
where first posts remain invisible (except to admin) and require approval.
If the post contains spam, you dont approve.

I have no ETA on the templets though, I expect nabble will send an announcement via the Admin Notice.
