Changing changes

Harvey
Guys - I am confused about how to work with certain customizations.

I had asked you to change the word "categories" to "forums" in my form apps.  I can see how to edit the original NAML code where the text says "subcategories" but I can't find the way to edit the macro that overrides it.

I see some uneditable stuff:

<!-- changing "subcategory" to "subforum" and "category" to "forum" -->
<translation><from>Choose a Subcategory</from><to>Choose a Sub-forum</to></translation>
<translation><from>Choose a subcategory to post your message</from><to>Choose a sub-forum to post your message</to></translation>
<translation><from>Subcategory</from><to>Sub-forum</to></translation>
<translation><from>Subcategories</from><to>Sub-forums</to></translation>
<translation><from>Subcategories under <t.location/></from><to>Sub-forums under <n.location/></to></translation>
<translation><from>List of Subcategories</from><to>List of Sub-forums</to></translation>
<translation><from>Category</from><to>Forum</to></translation>
<translation><from>category</from><to>forum</to></translation>

Basically in my users minds a sub forum is an odd term.  The home page (forum.nyskiblog.com) houses my forums and the forums listed are forums not sub forums.

It looks like if you remove the customization macro I could just edit "subcategories" and change it to "forum."

Can you help?

OK it looks as if I change "subcategories" in the macro to "forums" it works.  But then the tranlation ends up being extra unused code inside the page?

Does having a lot of code that isn't being used matter? Slow down the page unnecessarily?  Hurt text/html ratio?

My goal is the minimum amount of code to get the job done.
